Travel Advice

1. UK Summer Weather: Playing Cricket in the British Summer

The UK summer, from June to August, offers fantastic weather for cricket, but it’s always smart to be prepared for the British climate's quirks:

  • Expect Mild to Warm Days:
  • Perfect for cricket, with daytime temperatures ranging from 18°C to 25°C (64°F to 77°F). However, evenings can cool down to around 10°C to 15°C (50°F to 59°F), so packing a few layers is a must, especially if you're playing later in the day.
  • Prepare for the Occasional Shower:
  • UK summers can surprise you with light rain, even on a sunny day. A light waterproof jacket or a compact umbrella will come in handy, but rest assured, matches will go ahead unless the rain is heavy!
  • What to Pack:
  • Cricket essentials: Bring your own kit, though we provide key gear and facilities.
  • Sunscreen and caps: To protect from unexpected sun during long matches.
  • Comfortable clothing and shoes: Breathable for daytime, plus warmer layers for those cooler evenings.
  • A light raincoat: Just in case!

2. UK Immigration Laws: Visas and Entry

If you’re joining us from outside the UK, particularly from countries in the subcontinent (like India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, or Bangladesh), you will likely need a Standard Visitor Visa to join the tour. Here’s how to make the process easy:

  • Do You Need a Visa?
  • Most travelers from the subcontinent will need a visa. You can check the UK government visa checker here to confirm.
  • Standard Visitor Visa:
  • This visa allows you to come to the UK for tourism, sport, and academic experiences (such as the OCO tour). Apply up to 3 months before your trip and you can stay for up to 6 months.
  • What You’ll Need:
  • OCO Invitation Letter: We’ll provide this for your visa application.
  • Proof of Funds: Bank statements to show you can cover your stay.
  • Return flight details: To confirm you’ll leave the UK after your tour.
  • Processing Time:
  • Visa processing usually takes up to 3 weeks, so apply well in advance.
  • Entry at the UK Border:
  • When you arrive, Border Control will ask for:
  • Your passport (valid for at least 6 months).
  • Your visa (if required).
  • OCO’s invitation letter and proof of return travel.

For travelers from EU, EEA, and Switzerland, you won’t need a visa, but ensure your passport is valid for your stay.

3. Health and Safety During Your Tour

We take health and safety seriously to ensure every player can focus on their game. Before the tour, you (or your child) will complete a Medical Consent Form, and we provide full first-aid support at every match.

  • Travel Insurance:
  • All participants must have comprehensive travel insurance, covering health, accidents, and cancellations.
  • First-Aid Support:
  • Our team includes qualified medical staff, ensuring prompt care for any injuries, both on and off the field. We’ll also provide you with key local medical contacts.
